Death Certificate Information
When you meet with your funeral director he or she will complete the required paperwork to request a certified Death Certificate and place an order for the number of copies you need. Death Certificates are processed as quickly as possible. The amount of time it takes depends on several factors including the length of time the doctor takes to complete and certify the Death Certificate and the length of time it takes South Carolina DHEC vital records to print the certified copies.
Death Certificates are hand delivered to the doctor and DHEC by our Stuhr Funeral Home courier in South Carolina. We strive to have them within 7-10 business days. South Carolina DHEC charges $12 for the first Death Certificate and $3 for each additional copy.
Beginning in 2014, funeral homes can only order certified Death Certificates within one year of death. If you need to order Death Certificates within one year of death you may contact our Death Certificate Coordinator at 843.824.5980 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
